| VILLA cod. FVM02 - FLORENCE
It is located in the city of Florence on the slopes of the hill of Fiesole, near the edge of Florence, isolated by a luxuriant park, five hectares wide, circumscribed by via del Salviatino, via Benedetto da Maiano and the park of the nearby Villa del Salviatino. The structure and the architectonic elements of the ground floor reveal the 15th century origin of the main building. The Villa as we see it today, was rebuilt with grandeur according to the eclectic taste of that time by the German Prince Hochberg in 1885 when he
chose it as his residence.
Inside the building, the Chapel (Gold Hall) suggest a sumptuous baroque atmosphere, while the other halls and the Library suggest a more subtle Neo-Gothic and Neo-Renaissance style. The more intimate quarters (Black Moon Hall, Mirrors Hall) exhibit imaginative rococo fantasies.
The features of the Italian garden and the park are conceived in the same spirit which gathers the rare and the different. In the park we can find a rare Laurus Camphorae, some huge yews, palms, silvery cedars mingling with the more tipycal cypresses and holms, arranged to keep the environment secluded and apparently far from the city which can, however, be seen from the scenographic terraces set to receive suggestive views of the Poggio Gherardo
Hills.
