 HISTORY OF THE CASTLE
The 10th century castle, a national landmark, stands on the highest point between Florence and Siena, in the incomparable Chianti region. Destroyed and reconstructed three times, it has been formerly a lookout post for the Florentine army, giving a commanding view of the whole central Tuscany : Florence, Siena, Lucca, San Gimignano and Pisa. This tranquil corner of the Tuscan countryside provides the castle guests with a unique environment for study and reflection and a suggestive atmosphere, stepping in the past without straying too far from the present. The castle's estate, two hundred and fifty acres' property, is a working farm and produces its own wine, extra virgin olive oil, Vin Santo and honey.
DESCRIPTION OF THE CASTLE
The castle is next to the small village of Fiano, 35 km south of Florence and 38 km north of Siena. It is surrounded by its own vineyards in the heart of the Chianti region, known as the Chianti Colli Fiorentini. The property grounds are a mix of vineyards, olive groves, fruit tree orchards, meadows and woods. Just outside the walls, there is a Romanesque-style church, also property of the castle. Atop the rolling hillsides are panoramic views of the Tuscan countryside including the famed towers of San Gimignano. Sumptuously styled in a combination of modern and antique furnishings, the castle's individually designed guest rooms feature sitting areas and unique architectural accents reminiscent of a different world : exposed oak beams, terracotta tiles and winding staircases. There are twenty elegant double rooms and suites of various size and layout, all comfortably furnished in harmony with the style of the Castle. All guest rooms are non-smoking and feature private bath, direct telephone and Internet plugs. Four breakout rooms, dining rooms, former wine cellar (up to 44 guests) , Tuscan wines and meals. Various common lounges with satellite television reception and bar area are scattered throughout the castle. It is available for corporate and social events meeting room for up to 22 participants. MEETINGS
The Castle handles small distinctive boardrooms and salons for up to 22 persons in conference style.
The meeting and seminar rooms of the castle are on the ground floor with access from the main entrance or through the Salone. The main conference room holds up to 22 people seated theatre style and is equipped with flip charts, overhead projector, Kodak carousel projector and screen with white and silver sides.
A smaller conference room is ideal for discussion groups (14 people around a table) or as a reception area for a secretary.
