HISTORY OF THE CASTLE
From the origins till 1436 it was used as a fort and then as a dwelling by the Signori da Camino, who chose to endow it with a long and solid Guelph battlement and a tower in the middle. A date was engraved on a cornice : 1240. From 1436 the Captains Gattamelata and Brandolino IV enlarged the castle and kept it under their rule till the 17th century. Then it remained only remained to the Brandolino family until the fall of Venice.
DESCRIPTION OF THE CASTLE
It rises on the spur of the Mount Col del Moi and dominates the entire valley. The central part is with elegant two-lights and three-lights windows. Magnificent is the huge staircase leading to the wonderful hall for receptions: five flights of stairs adorned with halberds, lances, helmets and cuirasses. After its restoration the castle has been turned into a luxurious hotel with finely furnished bedrooms offering quietness, elegance and refinement. The wonderful Sansovian halls house the restaurant. The whole structure is endowed with bars, sitting rooms, fitness center with swimming pool and revitalizing center. The castle also house a Cultural Center, where one can admire expositions of weapons, cuirasses, reproductions of the Reinassance painters. Inside the castle there are also two permanent free museums : an interesting "Venetians Museum" showing the history of the people from the origins till modern times and the "Power and justice Museum" situated in the ancient prison. In the 30 hectares wood there are facilities as horse riding and equipment for trekking, mountain bike, parachuting, boating and free climbing.
