HISTORY OF THE RELAIS
In the past century the Duchess Marianna di Chablais, noblewoman of the dynasty Savoia acquired the Country house of Tor Marancia.In 1816 the Duchess began to set hand on the archeological escavation of a sumptuous roman villa, attributed to the family of the Numisi, active from the I to III
century before Christ. There was found wide sepulchral areas, recovering many epigraphs. In 1824 property the ownership was sold to a powerful Belgian prelate Mons. Saverio de Merode, "Minister of the weapons" of the Vatican.The Monsignore left his name to the beautiful hamlet. In 1874 de Merode died and the villa passed to his heirs. After so many nobles, in the 60's, a prince of the movies from Hollywood Charlston Heaston lived there while he was working for the movie "Quo Vadis ".The famous family of entrepreneurs Poli Canestrari Luswergh who bought the property 40 years ago encreased the estate with the passion for antiquities and gardening,so it became one of the most exclusive places in Rome.
DESCRIPTION OF THE RELAIS
In the park and French styled veranda receptions for weddings, university degree parties, business meetings or evening galas, can be prepared. The veranda is made of glass, so it can be used open or closed all the year, depending on the seasons. The park, with the gazebo, the swimming pool, the Italian styled garden and the beautiful trees all around, gives many opportunities to organize cocktail parties or seated lunches. In the garden the heating swimming pool with whirlpool offers the hosts a real possibility for relax. The rooms are furnished with care, with antique furnishing, Murano glass chandeliers and fine tapestries. All the rooms are different, the Room of Flowers has a delicious terrace of flowers that faces oh the garden, the Domitilla Suite has a rare Genovese bed of the 17th century.
